Patek Philippe for the next generation
Patek Philippe for the next generation

For Baselworld 2010, Patek Philippe has introduced one of their sportiest looking watches yet. Their new chronograph maintains the classic Patek feel, while offering a sporty new look. And best of all, it looks nothing like the hideous, sports oriented Nautilus collection. The new Patek Philippe Ref. 5951P is powered by the thinnest split-seconds mono-pusher chronograph movement with perpetual calendar. The Patek Philippe CHR 27-525 PS Q movement, which was designed specifically for the new 5951, is based on the Patek Philippe CHR 27-525 PS movement, which is already the thinnest column-wheel controlled split-seconds chronograph movement.

The platinum case is cushion shaped and measures 37mm x 45mm. The mechanical movement is hand wound, and runs at 21,600 vph. A split-seconds chronograph is operated by a single pusher at 2 o’clock. Chronograph registers keep track of your times at 3 and 9 o’clock. A subdial at 6 o’clock tells the date, with mini apertures directly above, which read the day and month. The moonphase is displayed at 10 o’clock.

The watch comes with an interchangeable full and sapphire-crystal caseback, so you can choose to show off the decorated manually wound in-house movement or not. Water-resistance is 30 meters. Power reserve is 48 hours. The strap is black alligator with red contrast stitching.
